Signs Of A Yeast Infection And What You Can Do About It

A yeast infection can be painful and uncomfortable for you to have to deal with. A yeast infection can affect both young and old, but no matter your age, it isn't something you want to have to deal with. If you aren't sure if you have a yeast infection, there are signs you should look out for. A yeast infection may not affect you in the same way as someone else, and not all yeast infections are the same - some are minor, and some may need medical attention. Read on for a few signs of a yeast infection and what you can do about it.

Itchiness

You may feel that your vagina is more itchy than normal. If you feel that you have an itch in your vagina, it could be due to a yeast infection. This is because the extra moisture and the discharge may make you feel the urge to itch. It may feel like an itch inside or on the exterior of your vagina. If you have this itchy feeling, you should use a yeast infection ointment to help ease this discomfort.

Odors

With a yeast infection, you may notice that you have a different odor coming from your vagina. The odor may be a lot more pungent than how you typically smell, and you may feel that you are unable to feel clean because of it. If you still have this odor after bathing, it may be a yeast infection. The odors are usually caused by the yeast in your vagina and the fact that your pH balance is off. The discharge will also have a foul smell, which is also a cause of the odor. To get rid of the odors, don't over-spray yourself with perfume. Instead, use a vaginal cleanse, which can be found at your local pharmacy.

Yellow Or Green Discharge

If your discharge is anything other than a milky white or clear, it could be a sign of a yeast infection. This discharge will cause the other symptoms above and is more than likely a yeast infection. If you have this type of discharge, your yeast infection may be a bit more severe and should be treated by your gynecologist. You may need medication or a medicated vaginal cream in order to treat this infection.

If you have a yeast infection, it is common. Most women experience at least one in their lifetime. Be sure to clean yourself after sex, make sure you are wiping correctly after urinating, and keep your vagina clean and dry to prevent yeast and bacteria from growing. If you have a yeast infection, talk to your gynecologist about what other things you can do to treat it.
